I like to work with natural materials, like clay and loam. My straw house I build using loam and also my new workplace I’ve build using mainly wood and loam. Loam is a wonderful and versatile natural material, that is easy to process, but also very durable and isolating. And what is so wonderful about loam is that, just like clay you can just dig it up in certain places.
Sometimes I organise a sculpting class or sculpting workshop. There you can learn to use different kinds of clay and combine them with other materials like chestnust, pine cones or branches that you have found. At the end you leave with a unique sculpture of your own hands that you can show arount, or display, with pride.
Am I creative?
You don’t know what you can achieve until you’ve tried it. Your fear of failure will dissolve on it own, when you start shaping the clay with your hands and your creativity starts flowing.
Failure doesn’t exist, just playful experiments that flow from your hands and that can keep flowing to become whatever it may be. You can express every emotion and any shape that is right for you. You are the creator in this universe, creating your own unique result. Art is emotion, emotion is movement . Your movement.
Your own art!
Perhaps more important, you will have a nice memory and learn that you can make something beautiful using just simple materials. It is a wonderful experience for young and old, working with the damp clay and being allowed to get dirty hands. The experience of kneading clay does something that isn’t easy to capture in words.
A wonderful expression of yourself.
There is lots of laughter and stories, but also a lot of concentrated effort. You will let your intuition guide you to make something that fits your personality, while following your own creative flow. Clay is patient and will simply will move along with you.
One person may work very precise, another a bit rough and wild, but it’s all good. Art is for everyting else an expression of what is in you, an expression of who you are in this moment. Clay is patient en shapes to your touch and will.
A sculpting class or claying workshop, is always fun. I look forward to the next one..
